As an active participant in Junior National Honor Society (two years), National Honor Society (two years) and National Charity League (six years) I learned that a leader is not just someone who directs others, but listens, understands, and shows up consistently! Having held many official positions in these organizations, I reflect on the privilege of learning the value of personal responsibility, collaboration, time investment, problem-solving and most of all that giving back provides just as much — if not more — to the person volunteering.
