Team + Sports
I competed on a team in an intensely individual sport for much of my early life. As a competitive gymnast I learned I could work harder than I thought physically or mentally possible, the power of discipline and focus, time management that training 20+ hour a week forces, and ultimately that my self-worth outside of the gym was more important and valuable than in it. As I grew older, it was important to me to be involved in more collaborative sports. I turned my physical energy towards diving and field hockey, both of which I had never done before. This is my evolution from intense individual sport athlete to ultimately leading in a collaborative team sport like field hockey, where I became team Captain and earned MVP in my second season.
